Dashboards & Data

Select a question to view the answer.

Where can I find definitions for the measures shown in a dashboard?

Definitions and explanatory notes are provided with OIRDS dashboards where applicable. Review the definitions, tooltips, and other supporting information included with the dashboard before interpreting or comparing measures.

How current is the information shown in the dashboards?

The reporting period varies by data source and dashboard. Look for the year, term, cohort, or reporting-period information displayed on the dashboard to determine the most recent data available.

Where can I find historical data?

Many OIRDS dashboards allow users to select prior years or reporting periods directly. Historical reports may also be available through the Reports & Resources section of the website.

Why might these numbers differ from other reports?

Dashbord figures can differ because reports may use different census dates, reporting periods, student populations, or definitions.

For example, a report may use fall census enrollment while another report includes enrollment throughout the academic year. One report may include only degree-seeking students, while another includes all enrolled students. Differences can also result from whether a report counts unique students, term-specific headcount, or FTE.

OIRDS dashboards are intended to provide consistent views using the definitions and reporting methodology described in each dashboard's supporting materials.

How do I clear my selections?

Use the red Reset Arrow ⟲ to return the dashboard to its default view.

Can I download or save a visualization?

Yes. Visualizations can be exported or saved using the available download options. Depending on the visualization, users may be able to save a graph as an image or PDF.

Can I download the data?

Yes. Each dashboard includes a Table view with a Download Tables button. Click the Download Tables button, select the appropriate table, then choose CSV or Excel (.xlsx) to download it.

Will my filters apply when I download the data?

Yes. Downloads reflect the filters and selections applied to the dashboard at the time the data are downloaded.

Data Requests & Support

Select a question to view the answer.

Can I request data not available on this website?

Yes. Rutgers affiliates may submit requests for data that are not available through the public dashboards and reports on this website.

Unfortunately, OIRDS does not accept individual data requests from outside Rutgers at this time.

What information should I include in a data request?

Providing a clear description of the question you are trying to answer helps OIRDS evaluate your request. When possible, identify the population, measures, reporting period, level of detail, and intended use of the requested information.

What should I do if I think I found an error in a dashboard or report?

Please contact OIRDS through the Request Data & Support page and include the name of the dashboard or report, the information you were viewing, and a brief description of the potential issue.

Why can I access some OIRDS resources but not others?

Some institutional information is publicly available, while other data and analytical resources may be limited to authorized Rutgers users because of the nature or level of detail of the information provided.
